Claire, sitting by herself at a restaurant, is waiting for her online blind date Brian to arrive, his online profile, which includes photographs, comprising the majority that she knows of him. Noticing her alone, Jack, another restaurant patron on his own, strikes up a conversation with her, which leads to Claire inviting him to join her on the rightful assumption that Brian has stood her up. It isn't until she extends this invitation that she finds out that Jack is confined to a wheelchair. Although not accusing her of such, Jack just wants to be treated like anyone else, with the conversation not constantly being about what he can or cannot do due to his physical disability. When Claire and Jack eventually part company at the end of the evening, there is an exchange of telephone numbers based on what seemed to be a good time each had with the other, with the unspoken expectation that there will be a "second date". Without even receiving a message of any sort from Claire, Jack has his own way of discovering if Claire has any intention of having that second date with him.
