A 16 year old Alejandro Silva, decides to leave his home and go in search of his missing brother to the far lands of Patagonia. He decides to embark as a stowaway in the naval training ship "Esmeralda". Alejandro then lives through misfortunes and adventures during the trip and such a search, marking also his passage to adulthood.
