Duvidha ( "dilemma") is set in rural Rajasthan. It tells the story of a young bride who is married into a wealthy merchant family. Shortly after the wedding, her husband leaves on a long business trip, abandoning her in a large, silent household. A lonely ghost who has fallen in love with the bride assumes the husband's form and returns to live with her. Unaware at first of the supernatural substitution-or perhaps choosing not to question it-the bride begins a tender relationship with the ghost, who provides the affection and presence her real husband denied her. When the actual husband eventually returns, confusion and tension arise: two identical men claim to be her spouse. The situation evolves into a moral and metaphysical dilemma, blending folklore with psychological ambiguity. The resolution reflects the rigid social codes of the time and the tragic consequences of suppressing desire and individuality.
