Murder in Sainte Baume
After 15 years away, Fred Carrel returns to the village where he grew up in the French Provence. With Sara, his former high school friend who now heads the local police station, he must investigated Antoine Bernier's death. Antoine Bernier was killed by dozens of bee stings to witch he was allergic. It could just be a tragic accident in this beekeeping region, but many suspicious elements are drawing Fred and Sara's attention. They all point out to Louise, Anais and Géraldine Portal, three generations of women from a highly respected family. First, there is this recent and devastating rash of hive thefts amongst local beekeepers, including the Portal family who owns one of the main honey bee farm around. Above all, there is the identity of the victim 15 years ago, Antoine Bernier was one of the only survivors of the dramatic bus accident that killed most members of the local youth football team. Louise, Anais and Geraldine Portal respectively lost their father, husband, and son then. Fred Carel, also, was on this bus. And he only owes his life to Antoine Bernier himself.
