Mr. Higgins runs a failing antique store in middle America. He's a lonely fellow who wishes that Sparkles, his post-WWII German-made clown doll, would come to life and and rescue him from heartache and boredom. Late one night, a mysterious book written in a strange language appears next to Sparkles. Mr. Higgins reads aloud and the words that echo from the back of his aged throat spark mayhem, bloodshed, and interspecies love.
