Dancing in the Dust

Nazar is a twenty-two-year-old young man who meets Reyhaneh in a minibus one day and they get married, but the bad things that are said about Reyhaneh's mother force him to divorce her. Reyhaneh agrees to this decision, but Nazar considers himself obligated to pay Reyhaneh's dowry in court. Nazar's job is to take care of horses that are injected with snake venom to obtain an antidote. One day, the police come to arrest Nazar because he has failed to fulfill a financial obligation he had made. Nazar gets into a car that belongs to a lonely and sullen snake catcher. They arrive in the middle of the desert where the snake catcher catches snakes. When the man notices Nazar, he drives her away without saying a word to her. Despite the man's mistreatment, Nazar decides to stay there and catch snakes. After some effort, Nazar manages to catch a snake, but he grabs it by the tail and the snake bites his left ring finger, forcing the snake charmer to cut off his finger. He puts the finger in a container full of ice and takes Nazar to the hospital to have the finger grafted onto Nazar's hand. On the way, the man tells Nazar about his life and says that he strangled a man who had a crush on his wife and went to prison, but when he escaped from prison, he found out that his wife had married someone else. At the hospital, they ask for money for the operation, and the snake charmer, who now seems to have become a different person, provides the money, but Nazar takes the money and runs away from the hospital. He gives Reyhaneh the entire amount to pay his debt. A little later, Nazar sees the car and the snake charmer's equipment at a stallholder who wants to buy a car, and he learns that the snake charmer sold his car to raise money for the hospital.

Amish Stud: The Eli Weaver Story

1 hr 25 mins
While he's out fishing with his Mennonite friend Jeremiah Peters on the morning of 2 June, Amish Eli Weaver receives a message via a call to Jeremiah's cell phone that Eli's wife, 29-year-old Barbara Weaver, has been found shot dead in their bed. While the Amish elders want to deal with the issue solely within their community, the Wayne County Sheriff's Department is forced to investigate in the murder having taken place in their jurisdiction, the two investigators being Detectives Bruce London and Mike Maxwell. What is subsequently shown is the current investigation interspersed with flashbacks of Eli and Barbara's life, which Eli admits to the investigators was not always perfect. Those flashbacks show that prior to their marriage, Barbara wanted to marry for romantic love, which is not the Amish way. Eli seemingly wanted the same; he was the black sheep of his family in not always adhering to Amish strictures. London and Maxwell have their theories of who the murderer is; they suspect Eli, who isn't reacting like a typical grieving husband and father, but they know they'll have problems finding evidence because the Amish Eli will have no digital footprint; and the community's sole telephone is a public one for emergencies, usable by anyone. They hope that the unofficial traditional Amish communication network, rampant gossip, will provide some clues. They find that some talk emerges in the form of a collection of women not in the community who were a part of Eli's secret life as the Amish Stud.
