Shriram Deshmukh works as a bank manager living a joyful life with his wife Janaki two children Manasi , Dilip and his wife Sunanda. He considers and Mansi as lucky and calls her Laxmi as he achieved everything after her birth. He plans to marry Manasi to Rajesh son of Vanitabai whose valuable customer of Sriram's bank, but Vanitabai and Rajesh are in legal dispute with a rival over a property case. After Manasi's marriage Shriram is accused of bank fraud and Dililp looses his job while their house is also to be mortgaged, on the other hand Vanitabai feels Rajesh is going far from her and being close to Manasi and gets jealous of her. Rajesh and Vanitabai win their case and accumulate lot of wealth and start to torture Manasi, Rajesh turns to drinking and Vanitabai does not stop him as she feels this is the only way to separate them.
