Alone in the city, a young girl in red boots wanders into the countryside, borrows a canoe and braves the choppy waters as she consults a hand drawn map. Once she lands on an island, she raises a flag in honor of her independence, builds a fire single handedly and celebrates her solo adventure. The triumph of mind over matter almost completely shelters her from a raging storm taking place in a faraway hospital.
