Wool e is the little girl child, floating in the placenta of her mother, pulsating with life and excitement to meet the woman who has held her so long in her womb. No less thrilled is her expectant mother, who knits a woolen-wear for the new arrival--her yearning reflects in the design, as it slowly assumes the shape of a little boy's face. Every time Wool e's mother feels the movements in the bulge of her belly, she fancies her little guest merrily playing on the swing.... Sensitive Wool e understands it all and can hardly hold herself back. In the imaginary locus of a terrace she comes out longing to see her mother; she runs ..and dances...and even puts on the woolen wear, destined/woven for her.....; and this is when Wool e's world comes crumbling down. She is shocked to notice that the well-knit woven pattern is of a boy's face......not that of a girl's face, as hers..... Knots loosen , and seem to fall apart... reflecting the perishing pain Wool-e suffers; does such pure expectations also have a gender discrimination! Little Wool-e is baffled even before she is born !!
