Alice, a meteorologist in Bordeaux, has been married for a year to Léo, an architect. The couple seems happy until Alice announces to Léo that she is pregnant. He does not want the child, as he had planned to leave for a major project in Africa. Alice insists on keeping the baby, even at the cost of ending their relationship, and her younger sister Mimi, who is very attached to Alice, is devastated by their arguments. She eventually drowns, and Alice loses the baby in a miscarriage.
