Confidence-man Steve Morris, with a reputation and plenty of money from his last job, leaves prison at the same time as Kay Murray, who, while innocent, took the rap and served time in place of her erring-brother. Steve befriends her and when he later discovers that his chief operative, Mabel,has deserted him in his game of separating wealthy men from a lot of their money, he talks Kay, as a straight business proposition, into romancing the wealthy Paul Southern into marrying her, and then later getting a divorce, with the divorce-settlement proceeds to be split among the partners, Steve, Kay and K.C. Kelly. All is going well until Steve realizes he has fallen in love with Kay.
