Cecilia

The film begins exactly a year after the disappearance of Cecilia with a monologue from Joel, Cecilia's lover. Joel is speaking out a letter he has written to Cecilia. In this letter, Joel explains that he doesn't fully understand her motives and that he plans to kill himself in the same manner that Cecilia had a year before. We now jump back to a year prior. A meteor falls through a black liquid mass in space before it ends up falling into Earth's atmosphere, where Cecilia watches it fall. She follows it's path to it's landing point and places her hand on it. As soon as she does she is given premonitions of an apocalyptic future. She is startled, and her stomach begins to ache and make unsettling noises. We jump forward to a meeting between Cecilia and Joel in the woods, where they frequently read poetry together. They get into an argument about her unexpected pregnancy, as Joel knows he isn't the father and Cecilia claims it is an alien-child and won't get an ultrasound. Cecilia pleads for Joel to understand her. Joel ignores her. We jump forward well into her pregnancy. She monologues a letter she writes to Joel. In this letter, she tells him that she has to believe her premonitions are true and that she still loves him, but she must say goodbye. At the lake where she originally touched the meteor, she slowly walks towards the water, where it is implied she submerges herself. An alien liquid form takes her into the sky.
