Calgary is a modern city, but it hearkens back to its pioneering western roots during the famous week-long annual Calgary Stampede. Ways of doing things reminiscent of those pioneering times such as travel by horse drawn means center on the festivities, but modern touches are thrown in such as nighttime fireworks displays and nighttime illumination using electricity. Festivities, such as the parade, are fun for the entire family. But as the name suggests, the event centers on the rodeo held on the stampede grounds at Victoria Park.
