''Butterscotch and 'Chocolate" is the manic tale of a slapstick pair of inept journalists: Butterscotch Barnes (Second City alum Tony Alcantar, a reporter, and Hector ''Chocolate'' Jones (Rickey Hendon), a photographer, whose editor gives them 24 hours to come up with a story or be fired. Their search promptly lands them in the middle of a diamond heist, kidnapping and power struggle between the king of a fictional African nation and an Arab sheikh. A Mafia don with a ridiculous Italian accent gets involved, as does a tiny Chinese fellow, a hit man named Anton, and a WASP waitress who has never worked a day in her life. (First-time writer-producer, lead actor Hendon seems to be following an essential political dictum here: If you're going to offend one ethnic group, better offend all ethnic groups.)
