Forty year old New Yorker Bobby Lieber is a queer history podcaster. A group consisting of himself and one in each of the other categories is working on opening an LGBTQ+ history museum, the first of its kind in the world, they short several millions to complete it. Even within this group of the societally marginalized, he realizes that he is considered privileged in being a white cis male. Not looking for a long term relationship, he has settled into a life of the occasional but always unsatisfactory one night stand largely found through Grindr, while having a strong social network of friends. While aware of him in having seen him at the gay club, Bobby speaks to Aaron Shepard for the first time, from afar Aaron coming across to many as a brainless gym bunny, his seemingly standoffish demeanor due to he being able to get any man he wants. Bobby learns that Aaron is not brainless in being an estate planner, but like him is not interested in a long term relationship. While Bobby wears his gayness on his sleeve in constantly promoting the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, Aaron, while out, does choose where and when to be "gay", an outcome of his small town upbringing. While Bobby can admit that he is sexually attracted to Aaron, Aaron seems less so in return, but that does not stop them from having sex in a subsequent encounter. They decide to hang out occasionally, not even as friends, the preponderance of sex between them easier than hanging out an admission of actually liking each other. The question then becomes whether they can bridge the gap in their personalities, especially in being gay men with different outlooks on being gay, to have a more complete relationship as boyfriends in every meaning of the term.
