The Bright Shawl

Wealthy young American Charles Abbott travels with his friend Andres Escobar to help in the fight for Cuban independence from Spain. He falls for Andres' sister Narcissa, but he spends much time with La Clavel, a dancer who is in love with him and imparts to him information she has gained from Spanish officers. However, a Spanish spy uncovers their activities and lays a trap for them-and the entire Escobar family.
