France, 1911. Four anarchists - Raymond la Science, Garnier, Carouy, and Soudy - attack banks and bourgeois targets, influenced by their encounter with the determined illegalist Jules Bonnot. He becomes the leader of a new group, drawing in former nonviolent anarchists organized by the pacifist Kilbatchin. At the same time, Jouin, deputy head of the civil police, orders the elimination of all partisans in the city. The film is inspired by true events.
