Ben Lewis examines the history of French nuclear tests in the South Pacific. The film covers tests on the Mururoa and Fangataufa atolls and their effects on Polynesian islanders; Greenpeace activists who sailed a small yacht into the test zone to block atmospheric tests; local protests in Polynesia; Tahitian anti-nuclear resistance groups Te Toto Tupuna and the Front de libération de la Polynésie (FLP), whose leader later became president of French Polynesia; the terrorist attack on the Rainbow Warrior, which killed one Greenpeace member, and an armed assault on another Greenpeace ship. This provides a comprehensive view of Polynesian anti-nuclear activism from 1966 to 1996.
