After Sakharam Borade loses in the bullock-cart race to Shankar Patil, he is hostile towards him. Shortly thereafter, Shankar is killed, the Police arrest Sakharam, try him in Court, find him guilty and sentence him to prison for life. While in prison, he learns that his wife, Hansa, has killed herself, leaving an infant, Tara, alone. He does get discharged after 13 years, and returns home and is attacked. Some street performers come to his rescue, and he recuperates with them. But not for long, as Shankar's now grown-up son, Gana, with an Axe in his hand, will soon confront him for killing his father.
