The events take place in besieged Sevastopol during the Great Patriotic War in 1942. The scout Lozovoy, the underground fighter Kolesov and the fifteen-year-old partisan liaison "Vasilek" are given the task to get the data on the location of a super-powerful artillery gun, shelling Sevastopol, and pass the coordinates to the boat, which must approach the Blue Bay. The task is difficult and dangerous, because the location of the enemy gun is carefully camouflaged and vigilantly guarded.
