Berlin Express Reviews

It's three years after Adolf and Eva died in the bunker and there are still Nazis roaming Germany, trying their best to disrupt the peace. On board the Berlin Express from Paris, a famed leader of the international peace movement, Dr. Bernhardt (Paul Lukas) is kidnaped by members of this Nazi underground. Yank Robert Lindley (Robert Ryan), Brit Sterling (Robert Coote), and Russky Lieutenant Maxim (Roman Toporow) are a trio of officers assigned to find Bernhardt, root out the underground vermin, and set the country back on the right track. Along the way, Bernhardt's secretary, Lucienne (Merle Oberon), lends Lindley a hand in locating the hidden Nazi headquarters. The bombed-out backgrounds of Frankfurt and Berlin lend a great deal of credibility to the movie, as do the combined talents of director Jacques Tourneur and cinematographer Lucien Ballard.
