Benilde, a young woman from a devout bourgeois family, announces that she is pregnant. When asked who the father is, she calmly insists that the child was conceived by the will of God. Her family is thrown into confusion, torn between faith, skepticism, and fear of scandal. While her father, her cousin Eduardo, and the household servants speculate and doubt, Benilde remains serene and unwavering. The house becomes a closed world where belief, reason, and social morality collide. The film maintains its ambiguity to the end, leaving unanswered whether Benilde's pregnancy is a miracle, a delusion, or a hidden trauma.
