Argentina, 1980. Geneva-based private banker Yvan De Wiel (Fabrizio Rongione) travels with his wife Inés (Stéphanie Cléau) to Buenos Aires, which is in the midst of a dictatorship, to replace his business partner René Keys, who has disappeared without a trace. Keys was the representative of their Swiss bank in Argentina and was responsible for looking after wealthy Argentine clients. Rumors about his abrupt departure are circulating among the clients. Once there, Yvan tries to stabilize business relations while also finding out what happened to his business partner. In the process, he encounters members of the Argentine elite who are coming under increasing pressure: the military junta is expropriating even the rich, and many are trying to save their assets abroad-often through discreet channels such as Swiss banks. But the more De Wiel acts, the deeper he gets into a labyrinth of power where different rules apply.
