Kido receives a strange request from his former client, Rie: to conduct a background check on her deceased husband Daisuke. After going through her divorce, Rie returned to her hometown with her child and eventually met and married "Daisuke", and they were building a happy family with when her husband suddenly lost his life in an unforeseen accident. In the midst of his sorrow, on the day of Daisuke's memorial service, Daisuke's older brother, Kyoichi, who had been estranged for many years, visits him.
