A Dog's Life examines the journey of college drop out Blake Larsen's, move back home with his mother after the death of his father, Phil. Upon settling down into small town life Blake sets out to make sense of his life after the loss of his father and distance from his mother. Blake an his mother, Mary, have opposing methods of grieving. Mary attempts to find a solution by getting a dog as a pet, only to drive a bigger wedge between the two. Mary seeks to escape her past, while Blake attempts to hold on to the limited relationship he had with his father.
