Recently divorced Jane Fonda takes an office job and soon becomes pals with fellow secretaries Dolly Parton (in a sensational movie debut) and Lily Tomlin. Their boss is male chauvinist Dabney Coleman, who is trying to land Parton in bed. While smoking dope one night the women hatch a plan to take revenge on their cruel boss. Lots of laughs, little sense, and pure fantasy. Produced by Fonda's company, NINE TO FIVE is an amusing way to spend 110 minutes, but hardly memorable. Later made into a short-lived TV series. The title song received an Oscar nomination.
