The longer Daryl survives, the more hair he grows

Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is the most popular character among fans of The Walking Dead. And as his legend has grown, so has his hair. Daryl apparently hasn't gotten a haircut since Season 1. His hair just keeps getting longer, greasier and more badass. Take a look at how it's changed over the years.

Season 1

Aw, look at these Season 1 babies! Back then, Daryl still had short hair and a crossbow, Glenn (Steven Yeun) still had a head and dumpsters had no particular significance!

Season 1

The short hair and minimal facial scruff make both Daryl and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) look so much younger. Seven seasons of fighting zombies will prematurely age you.

Season 2

By Season 2, Daryl's hair was a little shaggier and a little greasier, but it would still dry on its own within a half hour if it got wet.

Season 2

It's barely down his forehead! Daryl's Season 2 hair has no idea of the lengths to which it's going to grow.

Daryl probably prefers longer hair when he rides his motorcycle. It must feel so nice whipping in the wind.

Season 3

Season 3's unkempt sideburns gave Daryl his most punk-rock hairstyle.

Season 4

By Season 4, Daryl was looking seriously shaggy, with a little bit of an emo swoop happening as well.

A rare rear view shows the party in the back.

A showdown between hat-wearers and hair-growers turns violent.

Season 4

This is the haircut every guy in a band had when I was in high school.

Season 4

It's a very mid-'00s look.

Season 4

Daryl's Season 4 hair was in a transitory state between "shorter hair left unmanaged" and "full-on long locks."

Season 5

Season 5 is when things got REALLY hairy.

Season 5

Hair past his eyes gives him an extra air of mystery.

Season 5

We've come a long way from those fresh-faced boys in Season 1.

Season 5

Fun fact: Residents of the Alexandria Safe Zone use grease from Daryl's hair to lubricate creaky hinges.

Season 5

"Daryl, over here! Who are you wearing?"

Season 6

We've fully left the realm of punk and moved completely into hippie style.

Season 6

Doesn't it get in his way when he's slaughtering Saviors?

He should switch to a volumnizing shampoo...that is, if he ever washes his hair again.

Season 7

If Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) wants to keep going with the Biblical themes he explored when he almost made Rick and Carl reenact the story of Abraham and Isaac, he should cut Daryl's hair like Samson.
