Get your holiday on with these films on Netflix, Prime Video, and more

All I want for Christmas is a holiday film about a woman who uses prosthetics to pretend she's a man in order to play Santa Claus at a ski resort so she can get a discount on snowboarding lessons for her daughter — yep, that's her above! — and my Christmas wish has been granted! My Secret Santa is just one of many new holiday movies coming down Christmas Lane this year.
And though there may be fewer movies this holiday season than last year — Christmas cheer isn't immune to inflation — you can expect the same amount of magic that culminates in a tender kiss beneath the mistletoe between two people who until just moments earlier were total strangers or ex-lovers or enemies for about 90 minutes plus commercials.
Here are the new holiday movies coming this winter to Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and more. And because certain networks go all out for Christmas, we have individual calendars for Hallmark, Lifetime, and Great American Family, which are highlighted at the end below.

How many ways can the "pretend to be my boyfriend/husband/partner for Christmas" plot be used in straight-to-streaming holiday movies? Infinity plus one. Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage) plays a lifestyle guru whose empire is threatened when a TV show decides to air a Christmas special with her perfect family. The problem? She doesn't have a family; in the name of capitalism, she made it all up to sell books. Her solution is to ask her friend (played by Chad Michael Murray) to stand in as her hubby. I have no idea what will happen next!
Premieres Saturday, Nov. 1 on Hulu and Disney+
Joey "Whoa" Lawrence plays a man who, after his engagement is called off, takes some time off in a cabin where he's snowed in with his ex's cousin, and wouldn't you know it? They get the hots for each other. Of course, his ex shows up with her new boyfriend, complicating things. The real Christmas miracle here is how quickly these people moved on after breaking off their engagement.
Premieres Sunday, Nov. 2 at 7/6c on UPtv
One common theme of holiday movies can also be described as symbiotic Stockholm Syndrome, when two singles are trapped with each other in a cozy cabin as if Cupid himself opened the skies and called for 16 inches of snow to force love upon the two victims of circumstance. Related, Tyler Perry's Finding Joy stars Shannon Thornton as a career-minded fashion designer who gets stuck in a cabin with a stranger while pursuing her crush in Colorado. And yes, if you predicted Thornton's character was named Joy, you are correct.
Premieres Wednesday, Nov. 5 on Prime Video
If you're going to have a holiday called X-mas, then you're obviously going to have holiday movies about exes. One of Netflix's big Christmas gifts this year is this rom-com starring Alicia Silverstone as a woman whose holiday celebration is thrown for a loop when her ex-husband (Oliver Hudson) introduces his new, younger girlfriend (Jameela Jamil) to the family. In retaliation, she starts hooking up with an even younger hunky fella. Totally normal adult behavior!
Premieres Wednesday, Nov. 12 on Netflix
The Jonas Brothers — Nick, Joe, and Kevin (sorry, no Frankie) — have their own Planes, Trains and Automobiles moment in this new holiday film streaming on Hulu and Disney+, as they overcome obstacles to try to make it home from London in time for Christmas. Other cast members include Chloe Bennet, Billie Lourd, and Laverne Cox, but I'm here for two interesting casting choices: Kenny G, who also performs on the lead single "Coming Home for Christmas," plays himself, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson plays Santa Claus.
Premieres Friday, Nov. 14 on Hulu and Disney+
Christmas? Champagne? France?! Sounds like something romantic is going on in Champagne Problems, despite its very non-effervescent title. Minka Kelly plays a bubbly rising executive who heads to Paris over the holidays to acquire a champagne brand, but things go a little flat when she has a flirty run-in with a man (Tom Wozniczka) and only later learns he's the son of the champagne brand's owner. Will she get drunk on love and put a cork in her work's flow, or can she pull off her plan and get the man and the brand?
Premieres Wednesday, Nov. 19 on Netflix
The 2023 film The Family Plan had nothing to do with the holiday season, but some wise screenwriter pitched a sequel that takes place over the holidays, because streamers can't resist movies that blind viewers with colored lights, tinsel, and an unhealthy amount of holiday cheer. This time, Mark Wahlberg's Dan Morgan takes his fam on vacation to Europe over Christmas, where his past as a former government assassin once again comes back to ruin his present as a dad.
Premieres Friday, Nov. 21 on Apple TV
Do you hear what I hear? The Loud House is delivering a Christmas special this season called A Loud House Christmas Movie: Naughty or Nice, in which Lincoln Loud hacks Santa's naughty and nice list, accidentally flipping which children are deemed good and bad. As is the case with most animated holiday movies, it's up to the gang to save Christmas.
Premieres Friday, Nov. 21 at 5:30/4:30c on Nickelodeon
I didn't expect an original idea to come down the chimney this winter, but here we are! Connor Swindells (Sex Education) and Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer) star as two overworked and underpaid singles who decide to become small-time thieves targeting a London department store. Methinks the only thing they'll end up stealing is each other's hearts.
Premieres Wednesday, Nov. 26 on Netflix
The Did You Even Try? award of the season goes to whoever named this movie, which is part of AMC Networks' Best Christmas Ever programming. In it, a young girl gets an unexpected present when the mom she never knew comes back into her life, but things get complicated because her dad has a new partner.
Premieres Thursday, Nov. 27 on ALLBLK
Jay Duplass directed this SXSW Audience Award-winning indie film about a man (Michael Strassner) who cracks a tooth on Christmas Eve and goes on an adventure around Baltimore with his emergency dentist (Liz Larsen). No rom-com clichés, just the heartwarming, character-driven fun you'd expect from Duplass.
Premieres Friday, Nov. 28 on Sundance Now and AMC+
This documentary is for anyone who has wondered where all those Christmas trees in those big city pop-up lots come from. The Merchants of Joy follows five families who dominate Christmas tree sales in New York City, and the camaraderie and rivalries that develop between them.
Premieres Monday, Dec. 1 on Prime Video
Chad Powers, hit the showers! Streaming has a new master of disguise. Alexandra Breckenridge (Virgin River) plays a mom who plasters herself with prosthetics to get hired as a mall Santa at a posh ski resort in order to get her daughter half-priced snowboard lessons — as good a reason as any, I guess — but has to keep her identity secret when she begins to fall for the hunky hotel manager (New Amsterdam's Ryan Eggold). Before you say how ridiculous this is, may I remind you that last year Netflix aired a movie about a snowman who came to life and had six-pack abs?
Premieres Wednesday, Dec. 3 on Netflix
Kids aren't the only ones being left home alone this Christmas. In this holiday family comedy, a woman (Michelle Pfeiffer) who meticulously preps her chaotic family's holidays is forgotten during a special family outing, leaving her alone and feeling underappreciated. As she spends Christmas by herself, she goes on her own adventure and discovers the secret to happiness during the holidays is getting the hell away from your family discovering Christmas magic any way you can. The all-star cast also includes Felicity Jones, Denis Leary, Chloë Grace Moretz, Danielle Brooks, and more.
Premieres Wednesday, Dec. 3 on Prime Video
Christmas loves a good "Santa got kidnapped/hurt/detained by ICE, so now we have to save Christmas" story almost as much as it loves a sequel, which is why we have The Night My Dad Saved Christmas 2. This time, Santa Claus gets kidnapped by a greedy toy company — I guess Santa's generosity cut into their profits — so now it's up to a reformed thief to get jolly and take on Santa's role... again!
Premieres Friday, Dec. 5 on Netflix
We've got a bit of a Die Hard situation here, as Goodbye June is a movie set during Christmas, but does that automatically make it a Christmas movie? Scholars of cinema... debate! Kate Winslet makes her directorial debut in this touching film about four adult siblings who gather to be in the presence of their dying mother (Helen Mirren). I guess it's less Die Hard and more cry hard. Teary Christmas to all, and to all a good cry.
Premieres Wednesday, Dec. 24 on Netflix
The king of Christmas movies returns with 24 new features starring your favorites like Lacey Chabert, Erin Krakow, Jonathan Bennett, and Tyler Hynes. From romance at a cat café to another installment of the Three Wise Men franchise to a romance set in the world of the NFL's Buffalo Bills, here are Hallmark's new Christmas movies in 2025.
Llifetime's annual "It's a Wonderful Lifetime" programming event turns the network known for salacious original films about angry cheerleaders, relentless stalkers, and extramarital affairs into a winter wonderland. This season, Lifetime is unwrapping a baker's dozen Christmas movies ranging from a pickleball romance to a thriller about a stalker who "gifts" his target with creepy holiday decorations. Here are the Christmas movies coming to Lifetime in 2025.
Not to be outdone, Great American Family is slathering your screens with 19 "faith-based" films about learning what GAF believes is the true meaning of Christmas. You'll find showcases for Candace Cameron-Bure and Mario Lopez, among others. Here are the Christmas movies coming to Great American Family this season.
