• Graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Theatre Arts and earned his Master's from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University
• Started out doing vignettes about substance abuse which were targeted at corporations
• Made his film acting debut in the 1994 sports drama film "Above the Rim" opposite the late Tupac Shakur, Marlon Wayans, and Duane Martin

• Once met Paul Newman and Sydney Poitier while rehearsing for the Joanne Woodward play "Waiting for Lefty" in Woodward's apartment
