• Was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000, being one of six "Coronation Street" actors to receive the award
• Due to an explosion of a mortar round he witnessed while apart of the British Army, he continues to suffer from tinnitus
• His career took off when he joined the cast of "Coronation Street," taking the lead role and from which he is the world’s longest serving actor, acting on the show for more than 50 years
• He is a devoted druid and member of an astronomy group out of Celtic mythology, where he believes and predicts the fate of his life by the turning of the moon
