  • After making a name for himself in London, he would accept an offer by Louis B․ Mayer with MGM and come to the United States in 1938
  • Worked briefly in Berlin before returning to his native Austria to work under contract for Germany's biggest film studio at the time, Ufa
  • Was forced to flee Vienna in the mid 1930s which was quickly becoming a Nazi stronghold, traveling to London by 1936
