• An avid art collector, he and second wife Mary donated dozens of pieces of priceless works to East Los Angeles College which is now housed in the Vincent Price Art Museum
• Appointed to the Indian Arts and Crafts Board by Dwight D․ Eisenhower
• After studying at Yale and later the Courtauld Institute in London, it wasn't until the age of 24 that he became interested in a career on stage
