• Along with being a life member of the famed Actors Studio, Tayback also co-founded the Company of Angels theatre group in Los Angeles
• Attended Burbank High School in California
• Married Sheila McKay Barnard in 1963 and has one son, Christopher Tayback, who later became a high-powered trial lawyer
• Died at the age of 60 due to a sudden heart attack, and is interred in the Hollywood Hills Cemetery
• The son of Syrian immigrants, the native New Yorker moved to Burbank, Calif․ with family during his teens before gaining an interest in the performing arts
• Along with playing character actors in numerous shows, he is often remembered as the stern diner owner in the hit TV sitcom "Alice" of the '70s and '80s
• Served in the United States Navy before pursuing a career in acting full time
