• Founded the Cavanagh Classic celebrity basketball tournament in 2008 to raise money and awareness for Nothing But Nets, a charity dedicated to combating malaria by distributing mosquito nets to areas where the disease is prevalent
• While attending Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, he played ice hockey and basketball while working on degrees in English and biology, discovering his interest in theatre and music along the way
• Spent a considerable part of his childhood in Winneba, Ghana, a coastal fishing village where his parents set up a teaching system
