• His father, Roscoe Karns, was also an actor who played Shapeley in "It Happened One Night" and Capt․ Walter Shafer in "Hennesey․"
• Made his screen acting debut in the film "Andy Hardy's Private Secretary" in 1941
• Best known for playing George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life" and Sergeant Hart in "Rocky King, Inside Detective․"
• After moving with his family to Ajijic, Mexico, in 1971, he opened the English-language Lakeside Little Theater, where he was a producer and director for 30 years
• Took up painting in 1948 and sold several of his paintings over the following months, including one of a scene from "It's a Wonderful Life․"
