Fast Facts

• Attended the Ealing College of Art, where he met Freddie Mercury in a graphic arts course
• Met Brain May while he was a student at Hampton School, where they formed the blues rock band 1984, playing as a support act for Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd
• Formed the band Smile with Brian May and Roger Taylor, co-writing the song "Doin' Alright," but later left to join the band Humpy Bong
• After playing with a number of bands in the UK, America, and Italy, he turned his attention to the arts, working as a model maker, animator, and commercial director
• Worked as Director of Film at The Red Balloon Film Company and Oxford Scientific Films
• Best known as a visual artist, model maker, and former member of the rock band Smile, which would eventually become Queen
• Has created models for the TV series "Doctor Who," "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends․"
• Reunited with Brian May and Roger Taylor at a reunion concert in 1992, which was the first time he had played with them since leaving Smile
