• Began making films at the age of 12 after his father bought him a black and white video recorder
• Started out in the industry directing Canadian television shows before venturing into feature films
• Quote: "(On the popularity of monster movies): "I think it's basically something really deep-rooted in our psyche․ We love monsters and the idea of monsters․ We always have․․․there just weren't enough movies out there like it․""
• Collaborated with Canadian filmmaker and author Peter Vronsky in the 1970s as an art director and cinematographer
• Best known for directing "The Gate" and its sequel, "The Gate II: Trespassers․"
• Was the recording engineer for The Viletones, a Toronto punk band, in their 1977 recording sessions
• Produced the Cardboard Brains's "White EP" and "Black EP․"
