• Attended Dartmouth College, after which he trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts
• After starring in numerous productions at Stratford Shakespeare Festival, he was spotted by Universal Studios' talent scout and was offered a contract
• Received high praise from his role as the lead in "The Immigrants," playing the son of Italian immigrants in San Francisco
• Has a trademark for playing foreign characters, such as Italian immigrants, and Jewish roles
• Auditioned for the role of Jean-Luc Picard in "Star Trek: The Next Generation," and went through many rounds of auditions, the role eventually went to Patrick Stewart
• While attending college, he was roommates and close friends with "Law & Order" star, Michael Moriarty
