• Studied journalism and Russian at the University of Texas, but left in 2008 to pursue her acting career
• Started out as a musician and singer in her hometown of Austin, Texas, and also worked as a violin teacher
• Made her screen acting debut in the TV series "Friday Night Lights" in 2008
