• Began career working as an assistant director during the Australian film boom of the 1980s
• Quote: "Priscilla was the only time I've ever had final cut on a film and I wanted that again․ This project was really important to me․ When I took the project through the studio system, I could tell that I'd lose control if I went down that road․"
• Worked with Fred Nassiri to create music group U96's "Love Sees No Colour" music video, one of the most costly music videos of all time, shooting in more than 15 countries, with seven directors
• During his presentation at the inaugural AACTA Awards in Sydney, Australia, on January 31, 2012, Elliott came out as gay
• In 2004, Elliott was in a skiing accident and was hospitalized for several months, but instead of letting the situation get him down, he stayed optimistic and credits the incident as helping him rediscover his sense of humor
