  • After earning her bachelor's degree from American University, she would later earn her J․D․ from the University of Houston
  • Underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2003, a procedure which would ultimately result in her losing almost 200 pounds
  • After graduating with her law degree from the University of Houston in 1986, she would be admitted to the New York state bar the following year
  • Earned her first on-air correspondent position in 1991 for Court TV, where she would go on to cover the William Kennedy Smith rape trial for her first assignment
  • Gained national exposure after being hand-picked by Barbara Walters to become one of the original co-hosts for "The View" in 1997
  • Published her first of many books, You Have to Stand for Something or You'll Fall for Anything, in 1998
  • Was fired from "The View" in 2006 after she made her contract negotiations public during a live segment of the show
  • Her first job as a new attorney would be for the Kings County District Attorney's office in Brooklyn, New York
