• Studied at the University of Buffalo, at which he received his bachelor's degree in film
• His career took off after he directed "Table For Five," starring Oscar Award-winning Jon Voight
• Founded the commercial production company Harmony Pictures, directing over 2,000 commercials
• In 1990 he married TV actress Marilu Henner, who starred in the 1990 series "Evening Shade," and the two divorced in 2001
• In 1996 he directed the third film of "The Mighty Ducks" series, which was one of the more successful franchises from Disney's movies
