• With his band Asleep at the Wheel, he has released more than 20 albums and received nine Grammy Awards
• He and his band have received numerous awards including The Texas Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996, and being inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame in 2002
• After forming his band in Philadelphia, they took a suggestion from Willie Nelson to move to Austin, Texas
• Hosts Texas Music Scene which highlights new and established bands from Texas, with his own band Asleep at the Wheel
• Known as a host for the Dallas-Fort Worth CBS affiliate station KTVT
• He released his first solo album in 2003, called "Beyond Time․"
• He and his band joined with country singer Willie Nelson and released "Willie and the Wheel" in 2009
