• Won the Golden Arena Award at the Pula Film Festival in 1979 for "Bravo maestro" and again in 1986 for "Vecernja zvona"
• Co-founded the Ulysses Theater on the Brijuni Islands with Borislav Vujcic in 2000
• Graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts of the University of Zagreb in 1969
• After college, he began his career as both an actor and teacher at the City Drama Theatre Gavella as well as the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb
• Often criticizes modern-day social issues and calls himself a 'Yugo-nostalgic', stating that times were better in Socialist Yugoslavia
• After first visiting the United States in 1964, he would eventually make a splash in Western films by the late '80s, despite having gained the reputation of a movie star in his native Europe
