• His sister is well-known English actress Lauren Socha
• Began his stage career with the Chellaston Youth Players in his hometown
• Quote: "It's hard trying to find that balance between being who I am in Derby with the people I'm with in Derby, and then being Michael the actor, and it's quite hard finding that balance․"
• Following several odd jobs in his late teens, he landed his first major role in 2006's "This is England" which would eventually go on to earn numerous accolades and launch him into the Hollywood spotlight
• Initially only appeared in film and transitioned to television films and series before making his American debut in ABC's "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland"
• Auditioned for his first stage role at age 11 for a school play but was turned away which is an experience he claims was the turning point that want to pursue acting full-time
