• Left high school in tenth grade to help support his single mother by working odd jobs, including fireman, oiler tank worker, truck driver and railway worker
• His first on-stage performance came as Jonathan Harker in a production of "Dracula" at the Niagara Falls Music Theatre
• Made his screen acting debut in the film "Meatballs" in 1979
