Fast Facts

• Started out as a reporter for the Akron Beacon-Journal in Ohio before becoming an actor
• Joined the theater company Corona Barn, where he appeared in shows like "The Drunkard" and "Billy the Kid," and also painted scenery and sold popcorn
• Made his screen acting debut in the documentary short "Food and Magic" in 1943
• Also directed the feature films "Cry Vengeance" and "Time Table" as well as several episodes of "Big Town" and "Wagon Train․"
• Best known for his role as Robert Cunningham in "The Snake Pit" and as Steve Wilson in "Big Town․"
• Started his own production company to make films and commercials in the 1950s
• Wrote, directed, and appeared in the film "Jessy Does Not Forgive․․․He Kills!" in 1965
