• Earned an International Raggae and World Music Award for his work with Leon and the Peoples in 2007
• Earned an athletic scholarship to Loyola University in Los Angeles, where he would earn his first unofficial acting credits as an extra in a student film
• Welcomed a daughter with model and reality show participant Cynthia Bailey in 1999
• A professional musician in his spare time, he once lead the band, Leon and the Peoples, who released their debut album in 2007
• After gaining widespread recognition in 1993's "Cool Runnings", he would begin appearing in dozens of other blockbusters including "Cliffhanger", "Above the Rim" and "Waiting to Exhale", among others
• Appeared in Madonna's music video for "Like A Prayer"
