• In 1942, at the age of 19, he graduated from City College of New York with a bachelors degree

• He is best known for his role as Platoon Sgt․ Bellamy in the film "Kelly's Heroes" and more recently, as Uncle Leo in the TV series "Seinfeld․"
• He joined the fight in WWII the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served in the China-Burma-India theater
• He was a fan of professional baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers
