• Attended Nottingham University to study English but dropped out to focus on his acting career
• As a teenager, he appeared in a number of small roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company
• Began acting with the Anna Scher Theatre School when he was a child
• Made his screen acting debut in the TV series "The Knock" in 1996
• His first job was in a TV commercial for the fruit juice Five Alive
